THE ART OF CRAFT BEER NEW ENGLAND STYLE
Craft beer is a treasure to many who appreciate the unique complexity of its flavor. Like a fine wine, beer lovers all over the world enjoy each sip with reverence for the brewer who masterfully crafts each barrel. Made with traditional ingredients like malted barley and hops, you will most often find these brews containing non-traditional brewing ingredients like fruits, nuts, coffee and even chocolate. Read More.
MUST TRY MEADS!!
Following close on the heels of the craft beer movement is the production of craft meads. Known to be the one of the oldest fermented beverages, traditional mead is crafted through the fermentation of a mixture of honey and water. This drink of the gods has been noted throughout history as part of rituals and religious ceremonies. Read More.

Moat Mountain Smoke House

Open since 2000, Moat Mountain Smoke House is a 174-seat brewpub, restaurant, and inn located in one of North Conway’s most historic buildings. In addition to our flagship location, we recently restored the Limmer Barn in Intervale, NH, opening the Moat Mountain Brewing Company Brewery Barn and Cannery in 2013.

The Brewery Barn and Cannery provides year-round availability of many of our brews in both draft and 16-ounce cans. And, we continue to brew right at the Smoke House, focusing on more specialty ales and lagers for our guests to enjoy on site

The Smoke House is open 7 days a week, starting at 11:30 am, and offers first come-first seating dining room service in addition to our full-service bar. Due to the nature of the local zoning at the Brewery Barn public tours are not available there at this time. Cheers!

Kevin started brewing beer when he was a teenager with his mom, who was macrobiotic so naturally wanted to brew her own beer. It has been a lifelong dream of Kevin’s to open a brewery. Mason Irish had been one of their home brew customers and an avid beer lover, which made for a great business partnership! Kevin had been working on the idea of opening his own brewery in Fryeburg and Mason was up for the adventure. This was back in the summer of 2014. Kevin and Mason started the licensing process in October of 2014. In January we decided to make the move and buy property in Fryeburg that would sustain both the beer store and Brewery. Two years later we are finally a licensed Brewery in The state of Maine. Our first batch of beer was brewed on our smaller pilot system while we wait to have the final touches on our 7-barrel system completed. We are on tap at most of the local restaurants and hope to have our Tasting Room open at the beginning of June. In the Tasting room you will be able to sit down, relax and enjoy a great beer on tap or take a growler or two to go.

Kevin is a local builder; Ruth works at Pine Tree School in Conway. Kevin and Ruth also own and manage The Good Beer Store in Fryeburg.

Mason is an Arborist by trade and happily married to his wife Jen who is an occupational therapist at Snow School here in Fryeburg, Maine. They have two young girls who attend Pine Tree Elementary in Conway NH. Mason and Jen are outdoor enthusiast whether it be hiking, biking or skiing!

What is a drumming grouse?
A drumming grouse is a male game bird who, in the spring, stands on a stump, log, or something that gives him a perch as a place to proclaim his territory.   He then beats himself on the chest with his wings, very slowly at first but with increasing speed until he sounds like a snare drummer going as fast as he can.

Morécello™ is a blackberry cello made by a generations-old secret family recipe that preserves the taste of fresh-picked blackberries. It is akin to limoncello but far tastier, far healthier, and without the acidity.  It may very well be the healthiest thing you can buy in a liquor store.

As a digestivo, it is traditionally enjoyed ice cold in small servings after your meal to settle the stomach.  But there are also numerous cocktails in which it is the star ingredient or plays a supporting role.   And its almost syruppy consistency lends it well to use in desserts and other foods.

SoPo Wine Co is a wholesale distributor of wine and beer in the wonderful state of Maine. We started in 2005, with the idea that we would only sell wines that we wanted to drink.

I sometimes call it a cult more than a business. Everyone that works here is fully vested in offering the highest quality product and the most efficient service possible. What we do isn’t so much by choice but a calling. Wine is really cool, all that history and geography.

If you are a consumer wanting to know where to find our wines & beers in Maine, give us a call, we can direct you to your nearest retailer.

Tuckerman Brewing Company

Kirsten Neves and Nik Stanciu were 24 years old in 1998, and weren’t sure their career paths were heading in the direction they wanted to follow. Nik was a scientist and Kirsten was thinking about law school. Nik & Kirsten moved to the Mount Washington Valley of New Hampshire and took jobs at a local ski area.

They wanted to be in business for themselves, but what would it be. They fell in love with the mystique of Mount Washington and Tuckerman Ravine and had been doing some home brewing of beer. Then there was the epiphany. Let’s start a brewery and name it after the summer and fall hiking destination and most famously, spring skiing Mecca – Tuckerman Ravine. As another maker of fine beer would say, “brilliant”!

As our business has grown, we moved into a larger facility at 64 Hobbs Street in 2004 and then into an even bigger building at 66 Hobbs St in 2014, we added extra equipment and we opened our new Tasting Room and tap house. Starting in 2015 we began a Tuckerman Brewing Concert Series featuring great live music (outside under the tent in warm weather and in our Tasting Room during colder months).

We serve our own delicious house brewed beer and great food made from scratch. Our goal is to use as many locally sourced ingredients as possible; we have reached out to fruit and vegetable growers, livestock and dairy farmers, as well as local grain and hops growers to create a network of producers who supply our chefs and brewers with raw ingredients grown right here in Maine. Come by and say hello. We look forward to seeing you all soon!

Baxter Brewing Company

Baxter Brewing Co. is a Maine-based craft brewery which is the first of its kind in New England to can all of its beer. Located in Bates Mill in the up-and-coming community of Lewiston/Auburn, ME, Baxter Brewing Co. currently distributes its flavorful and unique craft beers in ME, MA, NH, VT, NY, RI, & CT both in six-pack and on draught. The brewery features an in-house retail shop and Tap Room where you can purchase our beer and sweet schwag on-site, enjoy tours and tastings as well as regular special events.

Baxter’s story begins with Luke Livingston, whose interest in craft beer was peaked in college (thanks to him, Clark University now has a rule in place banning brewing in the dorms). After graduating, he launched a well-respected beer blog; as he continued to learn and write about craft beer, he recognized a need in the New England market for some creative interpretations of popular beers.

The impetus for committing his ideas to a business plan occurred in 2009, with the passing of his mother. The key components of his plan were to offer creative, approachable beers that would be produced sustainably, that would be inspired but not constrained by tradition, and that, through convenient packaging, could be enjoyed everywhere.

Mariner Beverages

Established in 2006, Mariner Beverages has grown to become Maine’s largest “independent” wholesale distributor of wine and beer. The company was founded by Tim Wissemann. Prior to starting Mariner, Tim owned and operated a retail beverage store in Portland. He watched the consolidation of other distributors and their product offerings and saw there was an opportunity to bring more diverse wines and beers into Maine for distribution. Since then the company has expanded/relocated three times and has now purchased a temperature controlled warehouse with a large drive in cooler in the Riverside Industrial Parkway. We offer weekly delivery service from the New Hampshire Border to Mount Desert Island which constitutes a majority of the population of the state of Maine. In early 2014, Mariner continued to grow by absorbing another distributor, DaVine Wines. All of the team is enthusiastic about wine and beer as well as the food that best pairs with it.

Nappi Distributors

Nappi Distributors was established in 1960 but our foundation as southern Maine’s leading distributor began years earlier when, in 1933, Giovanni (John) Nappi established one of the many distributorships that opened after Prohibition. It was in that organization that Frank Sr., Nick, and Sam Nappi learned about the beverage business.

Today, Nappi Distributors is one of Maines largest beer and wine wholesalers with a territory that extends from Fryeburg to Brunswick to Kittery. As the distributor for leading brands like Miller, Coors, Shipyard, Allagash, Robert Mondavi, Kendall Jackson, Sterling, Chat. Ste. Michelle, and Castello Banfi, the Nappi team works daily to be the best at building brands by ensuring each customer has the assortment and supply they need.
